Fenbufen

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug derived from arylbutyric acid, patented as a medicine in the early 1970s and used for osteoarthritis and inflammatory pain: it is a prodrug that the body converts into biphenylacetic acid (felbinac). This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.

Did you know? The molecule had already been described in a 1936 patent and in chemistry papers from 1940, decades before its anti-inflammatory action was put to use.
