Inulin
A polysaccharide made of fructose chains that more than 36,000 plant species, such as chicory, agave, onion and garlic, use to store energy, often in their roots: it is used as a prebiotic dietary fibre and is the gold standard for measuring kidney filtration. This family brings together the active ingredient.
Did you know?It was discovered in 1804 by the German Valentin Rose, who extracted it with boiling water from the roots of Inula helenium, the plant that gave it its name: it is only about 10% as sweet as sugar.
