Iohexol
A low-osmolality non-ionic iodinated contrast agent, developed in Norway and introduced in the mid-1980s: it makes blood vessels, organs and the spinal canal visible in X-ray, CT and angiography. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and other impurities.
Did you know? The idea of non-ionic contrast agents came to Swedish radiologist Torsten Almén: salty seawater stung his eyes while the brackish water near Ystad did not, and he guessed that the pain depended on osmolality.
