Nortriptyline
A tricyclic antidepressant introduced in 1963: it is an active metabolite of amitriptyline, which the liver converts into it by removing a methyl group, and it works mainly by blocking the reuptake of noradrenaline. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, metabolites, labelled standards, nitrosamines and other impurities.
Did you know?Besides depression, it has been studied successfully as an aid to stop smoking, an unexpected use for an antidepressant.
