Phenazone

One of the first synthetic drugs in history: an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory synthesised by Ludwig Knorr in the early 1880s and patented in 1883. It is still found, for example, in ear drops. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities and other impurities.

Did you know? When it was patented, in 1883, there were very few synthetic medicines on the market, among them chloral hydrate, trimethylamine and iodol.
