Pindolol
A non-selective beta blocker with intrinsic sympathomimetic activity, patented in 1969: it is used for high blood pressure and, in several countries, for angina pectoris and some arrhythmias. This family brings together the active ingredient, pharmacopoeial impurities, labelled standards and nitrosamines.
Did you know?It also blocks serotonin 5-HT1A autoreceptors, which normally hold back serotonin release: for this reason it has been studied as an aid to boost some antidepressants, with mixed results.
