Tipelukast

An experimental oral molecule that blocks leukotriene receptors, mediators of inflammation: studied first in asthma and then in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, for which it received orphan drug designation in the United States in 2014. This family brings together the active ingredient, labelled standards and other impurities.

Did you know?It does not hit just one target: besides leukotriene receptors it also acts on phosphodiesterases and on 5-lipoxygenase, the enzyme that produces leukotrienes in the first place.
